Prevention through Education, Intervention, and Advocacy

Our Mission is Our Priority: Prevention Through Action.

The Robertson County Prevention Coalition is dedicated to working collaboratively within our community to prevent and reduce the harms of substance use and abuse through education, supportive interventions, and advocacy. Our vision is a strong, unwavering commitment to reducing substance abuse and misuse by fostering education and advocacy for a healthier community.

RCPC targets reducing underage use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine (e.g., e-cigarettes), marijuana, and prescription drugs. It partners with Robertson County Schools, the Juvenile Court, Sheriff’s Office, parents, and civic groups to create a supportive network that discourages substance use and promotes positive alternatives. These collaborations enhance outreach and intervention for at-risk youth. RCPC empowers youth in this county to make substance-free choices, boosting community well-being through education and tailored prevention strategies, leveraging strong local partnerships to maximize impact.

The Robertson County Prevention Coalition (RCPC) supports local youth by focusing on substance use prevention and healthy development. It provides educational outreach, likely through community events and school programs, to raise awareness of substance risks and foster resilience.

Youth Services

There is a legend...

about a group of people that were standing on a riverbank, and they hear a child crying. They look into a river and a child is floating down struggling for their life. Someone jumps in and saves the child. As the group on the riverbank cheer and relief washes over them, they hear another child crying and see another child coming down the river. Another concerned citizen jumps in and saves that child. They notice more children coming down the river and more people jump in. While this is going on, one person leaves the group and starts walking up stream along the bank. One of the few people on the bank ask, “where are you going?!” That person replies, “Upstream to see who is throwing children in the river.”

We recognize as the Robertson County Prevention Coalition that we have a drug epidemic in our county, but we also recognize that there is something causing this epidemic. Our aim is to be the agency that walks upstream looking for ways to stop the problem before children are harmed. We believe that through education and connection our community can change and become the safe place it needs to be for our most vulnerable citizens to not just survive, but thrive for now and well into adulthood.

It provides an interactive experience that reveals common hiding places where drugs and alcohol might be concealed, helping parents, educators, and community members recognize warning signs and start important conversations about prevention. RCPC is in the process of having its own Stashed Away Trailer built to better serve the community, expanding its efforts to raise awareness and promote substance abuse prevention.
